Sorting in Excel

Complete the following:-

Question:  Why did clicking on a sort button mess up my table?

Answer: Probably because.......................
             Or possibly because....................

If you answered "Probably because you had cells selected before you clicked on the button, or possibly because you had a blank row or column." then you probably don't need to read about sorting in Excel.  Otherwise read and do.

Sorting is much easier to understand if you actually do it, so in a new worksheet write the nursery rhyme Mary had a little lamb, and make several copies of the text.  I have numbered each row.  Before you click on a sort button try to anticipate which order the rows will have after the sort, and also if the individual rows will still be correct.
